New vision research initiative secures funding

A project to establish the Centre for Vision Services Research has received £1,746,729 in funding from Health and Care Research Wales.

The five-year funding will advance the development and coordination of research proposals while providing support to researchers in the field.

Research would focus on: reducing hospital eye service waiting lists; transforming sight impairment and rehabilitation pathways; advancing person-centred outcome measures; optimising care intervals, risk profiling and new technologies; and improving vision care for vulnerable groups.

The initiative brought together researchers from Cardiff, Swansea, Bangor and South Wales universities in collaboration with different research bodies.
