
Eye care professionals have been encouraged to put a few hours aside each month and make volunteering with Vision Care for Homeless People their new year’s resolution.
Elaine Styles, chair of the charity, said: ‘We have ambitious plans for the growth of our service. There is a bleak outlook for many people in the year ahead and we are here to do whatever we can to make life easier for people in terms of restoring their sight wherever possible.’
Dispensing optician Claire Wier (pictured) is the clinic manager at Birmingham’s Sifa Fireside centre and said volunteering goes to the grass roots of why she went into optics.
