Newmedica has opened an eye health clinic and surgical centre in Newcastle at Hadrian House, Balliol Business Park, for both NHS and private patients.
This has created more than 20 new jobs and offers cataract surgery, aftercare, and YAG laser treatment, private glaucoma care, and plans to offer additional services in the coming months.
It will be managed by a team of five local partners, including operational director Amanda Bargewell and consultant ophthalmologists Gerard Ainsworth, Mustafa Kadhim, Ayad Shafiq, and Nicholas Wride.
Bargewell said: ‘We are excited to have the opportunity to work with our GP, optometrist and other local colleagues to provide a service to our patients in a local, friendly setting and with short waiting times.
‘Across the country, Newmedica patients tell us every day how delighted they are with the personalised treatment and care they have received, and we can’t wait to share that experience with the people of Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland.’
