No bah humbug in Specsavers TV ad

Specsavers reveals Christmas TV advert with the character Ebenezer Scrooge

Specsavers has revealed its new Christmas TV advert featuring the Dickensian character Ebenezer Scrooge.

The 30 second advert will run until Christmas Day and shows Scrooge walking the streets of Victorian London before seeing the deals available in his local Specsavers practise, which lift his spirits.

Created by Specsavers’ in-house creative team, the advert was filmed at Black Island Studios in London, which was transformed into a snowy high street. Art director Andrea Raanaas and copywriter Mike McCallum came up with the advert concept and storyline, with Graham Daldry directing, and Sam Lock and Kristin Rathje producing.

Specsavers UK marketing director Tim Orton said: ‘This story of Scrooge really embraces the spirit of Christmas and has that touch of humour you come to expect from Specsavers. We all know Scrooge is a hard man to please, so if we can put a smile on his face, we know we’re doing something right.’
