Luxottica founder and new executive chairman of the company Leonardo Del Vecchio has claimed that he would be embarrassed to wear Google Glass, the augmented reality eyewear device that the Italian manufacturer has partnered on with Google.
In an interview with the Financial Times (September 2), Del Vecchio said: ‘It would embarrass me going around with that on my face. It would be OK in the disco, but I no longer go to the disco.’
Del Vecchio added that Google needed to make a ‘step forward’ to broaden the appeal of the Google Glass device. ‘If Google managed to do 50 per cent of what they had done with mobile phones we will be able to sell millions,’ he added.
