Blyth practice DJ Preston Ophthalmic Opticians has been acquired by Geoff Stevens & Sons following David Preston’s retirement.
Former owner Preston purchased the practice in 1991. It first opened as a chemist in 1921, before Walter Scott added an optician on the first floor in 1946.
The business has been taken on by Mark and Christopher Steven, third generation optometrists at Geoff Stevens & Sons Opticians, which also has practices in Hexham, Haltwhistle and Ponteland.
Mark Steven said: ‘We look forward to welcoming both new and existing patients to the practice where they will be assured a warm welcome and would like to wish David Preston a long and happy retirement.’
