International Glaucoma Association to advertise at event to raise awareness of the need for African Caribbean’s to have regular eye tests to detect and prevent blindness from glaucoma
As part of the International Glaucoma Association’s (IGA) campaign to raise awareness of the need for African Caribbean’s to have regular eye tests to detect and prevent blindness from glaucoma, the organisation will advertise at the Notting Hill Carnival this weekend (August 25-26).
The IGA said people of African Caribbean origin were four times more likely to develop glaucoma when compared to Europeans, with increased likelihood of developing the condition earlier with greater severity.
The advertisement comes after a 12 month of activity aimed at the African Caribbean audience which began in Manchester with billboard campaigns and extended with promotions with African Caribbean newspapers, local community activity and PR.
