nxtNXT announced at Mido that its successful four-year collaboration with the research centre at the European Institute of Design in Milan was continuing, as it experimented with developing applications for the NXT material, already used in sunglasses and frames.

The latest generation of ‘Frames Revolution’, entirely made of NXT, were shown at Mido.

Two new models were created to demonstrate how easy NXT can be produced by moulding and milling from sheets, which the company said took ‘full advantage of the strength, quality and reliability of NXT’.

The designs are Horizon and Nose. Horizon is an optical frame, with temples die cast in NXT for the first time, connected to a bridge that is milled from a flat sheet and heat shaped to create the nose pad. The lenses are press-fit into the frame, eliminating the need for mounting hardware.

Model Nose (pictured), a sports sunglass built entirely in cast NXT is designed for performance, practicality and lightness. The bridge is fastened to the mask by a nose pad, also die cast and made of the NXT Soft formulation, allowing the lens to be replaced quickly with changeable components.
