West Midlands based prescription lens firm Oakhill Optical Laboratory has been put into administration following tough trading conditions.

A report in the Stourbridge News said that Gerald Smith and Ben Woolrych, partners at FRP Advisory, had been appointed as joint administrators to the lab, which supplies about 120 opticians across the UK - including Boots. The company will continue to trade as normal while the administrator seeks a buyer. The 20-strong workforce has been retained.

Gerald Smith, partner and joint administrator at FRP Advisory, told the paper: ‘Oakhill Optical has a strong history and a loyal customer base.

‘We are continuing to trade the business from its premises in Lye to ensure we meet customer orders whilst actively marketing the business for sale. We encourage any interested parties to make early contact.’
