Stourbridge-based lens manufacturer and Boots Opticians supplier Oakhill Optical Laboratory has been taken out of administration by a new company set up by a former owner.

Oakhill Optical Laboratory entered administration last month (News 24.04.15) after a deterioration in trading put unsustainable pressure on its cash-flow. Administrators FRP Advisory had continued trading the business whilst marketing it for sale.

Newly-formed company Oakhill Optical has been set up by Stephen Lea and Jamie Sawyer, allowing the business to continue to trade from the same premises in Lye.

The deal secured 20 jobs in the West Midlands and continued supply to Oakhill’s customer base of optical practices, according to a statement by FRP Advisory. The business supplies ophthalmic lenses to around 120 practices across the UK and Ireland including Boots Opticians, manufacturing 2,000 lenses per week, it added.
