Obituary - David Robert Munson

Obituaries

Dispensing optician David Robert Munson has died at the age of 53 following a motorbike accident on Sunday July 10.

Munson, known as Robert, began his career in 1973 at Melson and Wingate in Banbury and qualified as a dispensing optician in 1977, moving on to work in advanced optics and contact lenses.

A stint at Robert Stanley Opticians followed and then in 1998 he set up A and R Munson Opticians in Wallingford and Brackley, with his younger brother Andrew, also a contact lens optician.

He was a regular fixture at other opticians in Oxfordshire, including Woodstock Opticians and Specsavers in Witney and Cowley, where he worked for 11 years.

Friends said he was a highly respected, and capable optician, well liked by everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his big personality, endless chats and bad jokes.

Outside of optics he enjoyed motorbiking with his brothers and played 'Aunt Sally' for his local pub team. He leaves behind his wife Jo and sons Daniel and James.
