Former AOP chairman and optometrist Harry Daile has died at the age of 103.
AOP chief executive Henrietta Alderman paid tribute to Daile, who was also a sight loss campaigner.
She said: ‘We are very sorry to hear that Harry Daile has passed away. Harry was AOP chairman from 1970-1 and later awarded honorary membership in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the profession.
‘His life-long commitment to optics and tireless work helping people who are blind and visually impaired will leave a lasting legacy.’
According to AOP journal Optometry Today, Daile was born in the East End of London in 1912, the child of Romanian immigrants.
