OFNC attends parliamentary event

Representatives from the Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC) joined other primary care bodies on January 28 to meet with MPs.

The future of primary care was discussed at the event sponsored by pharmacy all party parliamentary group chair, Steve Race MP.

It was attended by 40 MPs who heard about the services provided by each division of primary care and their five key asks of government. 

These included making primary care central to the 10-year NHS plan and an increase in the share of NHS funding allocated to primary care in the spending review.

Dr Peter Hampson from the OFNC, said: ‘We know that a fully resourced primary care system reduces hospital admissions, cuts waiting lists and ensures patients get the care they need, faster and closer to home.
