Suzanne Enghed, a two-times gold medal winner at the World Fire-fighter Games and Police and Fire Games is a past employee of Coates Optical and passed the Olympic Torch in the Parade ring to Sara Philips in front of 30,0000 spectators.
Mary Wicks (92) has won gold, silver and bronze medals over the years at the World Senior Olympics. A former teacher from Cheltenham, she has lectured in sports and tutored Coates in many sports including hockey, which he still plays for Cheltenham Town.
