TPT funded video training for all to use the macular disease tool
The Macular Society launched an online tool for people who have lost sight due to macular disease.
The tool uses the eccentric viewing (EV) technique that allowed people to use their working vision that was unaffected by the disease. While previously accessible to trained staff, the Thomas Pocklington Trust has funded online video training for all following the surge in video use since the pandemic.
Hannah Keegan, programme manager at the Macular Society, said: ‘People tend to get the best results from eccentric viewing when they have the right lighting and low vision aids, so the training includes short videos on these subjects, as well as eccentric viewing practice.’
