An optometrist accused with his receptionist of murdering his wife appeared in court last week, writes optician's court reporter.

Narendra Tailor, 36, of Oadby, Leicester, and Manjinder Binning, 33, of Huggett Close, Leicester, are charged with killing Sheila Tailor, who was murdered at some time between December 7 and 12 last year.

The body of the 34-year-old mother of two was discovered in the back seat of her parked, silver Audi A4 car, in the Highfields area of Leicester, one month after she disappeared. Police towed away the vehicle, with the body still inside, for forensic tests.

Following the disappearance of Mrs Tailor police conducted a search of two houses and made door-to-door enquiries. Her car was discovered by a newsagent following an appeal by police for sightings of the vehicle.

At a January 14 court appearance the two accused spoke only to give their names and addresseses. Tailor, who was dressed in a blue sweatshirt, sat upright throughout the brief hearing, while his receptionist wept beside him.

Neither of the accused entered pleas and no applications for bail were made.

The case was adjourned to Leicester Crown Court until January 20.
