Optometrist Ina Jaurre from Specsavers in Egham and Staines recently returned from a Vision Aid Overseas mission to the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia.
The team tested more than 2,500 people and where suitable fitted them with spectacles.
Jaurre said the trip was rewarding but also very challenging. Her worst moment was realising a 15-year-old in the clinic had irreversible corneal scarring. 'For me, Ethiopia was life changing as I realised how much we take eye care for granted in the UK. It's amazing how much of a difference the VAO team can make to someone's life as well as whole communities,' she said
