Vision Aid Overseas founder Brian Ellis has returned from a strategic review in Ethiopia investigating new locations and relationships for the charity in its 30th anniversary year.
It was the first time in ten years he been able to go out in the field, and Ellis told Optician afterwards that continued funding was vital amid ‘great need’ for refractive eye care in the country.
He said: ‘Educational opportunities provided by various agencies are hampered when students cannot see clearly and this is something we want to overcome by arranging for VAO teams, radiating out and with support from the Vision Centres, to visit some of the more rural areas, but for this we need more funding.
