OO failed to declare convictions

Optometrist Anish Vadher has been erased from General Optical Council registers after a fitness to practise committee found him guilty of misconduct.

The committee alleged that Vadher, of Borehamwood, failed to declare convictions accrued between 1996 and 2006. Vadher was cautioned for cannabis possession in 1996 and convicted of drink driving in 1998, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and drink driving in 1999, being drunk and disorderly in 2002, speeding in 2004 and obstructing police officers in 2006.

On his retention applications in 2006, 2007 and 2008, it was alleged by the committee that Vadher declared he had not been convicted of any criminal offence. It was also alleged the registrant failed to declare his convictions to Westminster PCT in a 2008 application to provide ophthalmic services and in an application to be included on the Kensington and Chelsea NHS ophthalmic performers list in 2009.
