OO suspended for 18 months

A GOC fitness to practise committee handed optometrist Graham Bodman an 18-month suspension after he was found to have withheld information about a repeat drink driving offence.

In March 2011, inquiries were made into Bodman's registration after he admitted to be being off work for an unspecified period in his retention application. During the investigation he was convicted for drink driving for a second time and failed to notify the investigation committee, which was informed by Dorset Police. Bodman had already received a warning from the GOC in August 2010 after a drink driving conviction.

The committee deemed the conduct and attempted deceit serious enough to warrant an immediate suspension.
