
Optegra and Zeiss Academy collaborated on a training initiative to show the latest advancements in eye surgery by having its optometrists attempt treatments.
Held at its Queen Anne Street hospital, the 'Contemporary Solutions for Cataract and Refractive Surgery' interactive event gave optometrists the opportunity to try implanting advanced intraocular lenses (IOLs) and SMILE laser eye surgery on model eyes for the first time, within controlled cataract and refractive surgery wet labs.
Dr. Clare O'Donnell, head of Eyes Sciences at Optegra, said: 'We always like to offer interactive training, and this time optometrists could even try their hand at eye surgery - this was a first.
