For 2004, the seventh show of its kind, the exhibition has shifted its venue to the New Munich Trade Fair to help its expansion.
There will be 20 per cent more exhibitors compared to this year, with well known names such as Luxottica, Safilo, and Essilor taking centre stage.
In all, there will be over 600 exhibitors on 45,000m2 of floor space and organisers report an increase in the number of countries represented with 42 this time.
'In spite of the larger exhibition area, the distance that visitors have to walk will be shorter,' said a spokeswoman for the show.
'The halls are all on one level, there are no longer any stairways and no additional entrance controls.'
'Key German players' Carl Zeiss, Rodenstock, Eschenbach and Silhouette will also exhibit.Germany's Opti Munich show Ð whose speedy rise to prominence eclipsed Cologne's Optica event Ð will expand by a third when it opens in January.
