NHS sight tests numbers in the UK in rose by 3.4 per cent to 15.42 million for the year ending March 31 2012, according to The Optical Confederation’s latest Optics at a Glance figures. The survey, released last week, also found 63.5 per cent of sight tests resulted in a changed or new prescription, up 1.5 per cent, while 11 per cent of patients chose contact lenses, up 5 per cent. The flagship CET conference of Boots Opticians’ autumn Let’s Connect CET season took place last week at the Royal Society of Medicine in London and a record number of delegates attended. The event, to be followed by four others across the UK, was the first in a new CET programme under the Let’s Connect umbrella which will continue to be rolled out next year to address providing enhanced CET through a range of events including peer to peer sessions and conferences.
