IT connectivity between optics and the NHS was addressed at the National Optical Conference last week. LOCSU managing director Katrina Venerus acknowledged that communication across healthcare providers was a particular challenge and one that local eye health networks would be asked to look at. A full-time IT policy manager was hired by the Optical Confederation earlier this year (News 18.01.13) to help boost connectivity with NHS IT systems, and a proposal was expected to be submitted to NHS England ‘in due course’.

Former Safilo Group CEO Roberto Vedovotto has resigned as non-executive member of the firm’s board of directors. Safilo announced last week Vedovotto was leaving ‘to pursue new professional opportunities’, adding that he did not own any shares in the Italian company. Luisa Delgado was appointed CEO of Safilo last month (News 25.10.13) when it was also announced Vedovotto would remain on the board.
