Husband and wife optical duo Jason and Karen Kirk have set up a new eyewear brand. Kirk and Kirk launched this week and announced that the debut collection would be released in spring 2014. The pair, who left the Kirk Originals brand they founded in 1992, earlier this summer (News 19.07.13), said they were excited about the brand, which will utilise all of their experience in the optical industry.
Older patients with moderate to severe keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) have been found to show some measurable improvement from taking food supplements containing fatty acids. A study published in this month’s Cornea journal looked at 38 patients with symptomatic tear dysfunction and found that those using supplements containing gamma-linolenic and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids showed improvements in their ocular surface disease index over 24 weeks. No impact was found on break-up time and staining.
