General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) fees in England should be at least doubled according to an online poll carried out by Optician. All but 6 per cent of readers said the current rate of £20.70 per sight test was unfair. The straw poll attracted 283 votes last month, with the largest proportion of respondents saying £40-50 would be a fair fee.


Distribution of Briot lens edging machinery in the UK will pass to Norville Autoflow from BIB this month. Manufacturer Luneau Technology said BIB would retain warranty responsibility of recently supplied units, while Norville would assume care of older out-of-warranty units. Frank Norville said: ‘Adding the Briot range is all about providing choice of which we now have plenty to offer.’
