Dealing with children in practice, handling business pressures and avoiding legal pitfalls will be among the topics covered by an event for newly qualified optometrists, organisers have announced. The Fresh Eyes conference, jointly launched by the College of Optometrists and the Association of Optometrists, will include presentations, interactive sessions and the chance to network. The conference is scheduled for March 17 next year at the De Vere East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.

Bausch+Lomb has agreed to purchase all outstanding shares of laser company Technolas Perfect Vision (TPV). TVP was established in 2009 through a joint venture between B+L and 20/10 Perfect Vision AG to develop and sell refractive and cataract technologies. A co-promotion agreement in September 2011 included an option for B+L to purchase TPV if key milestones were achieved. The deal, based on a total TPV value of €450m, was expected to close at the end of January 2013.
