An unlucky optometrist has been burgled twice within a few months. Pratish Bhundia, director of Specsavers in Swadlincote, lost 1,100 frames worth £137,000 last week. Prior to that burglars stole £14,000-worth of frames, two iPads and cash from a safe in January. Brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Red or Dead and Timberland were targeted but insurance covered the theft. Bhundia said the practice was now back up and running after emergency stock arrived.
Search engine giant Google could release augmented reality glasses by the end of 2012, according to reports last week. Featuring a head-up display on the inside of the lenses, the glasses would allow patients to surf the web, read emails and deal with text messages. They may also feature an onboard accelerometer, with functionality controlled by making defined head movements and tilts. Google declined to comment.
