More than nine out of 10 adults in Britain are satisfied with the service they received when they last visited an optician, research carried out jointly by the College of Optometrists and Optician has found.
The research took place in the week that consumer watchdog Which? claimed nearly half of eye examinations are poor or very poor quality (News, August 31).
Yet 93 per cent of those surveyed by the College and Optician said that, overall, they were satisfied with the service received, the same proportion as found in a previous survey two years ago. The respondents saying they were 'very satisfied' overall was also similar at 73 per cent (2005: 72 per cent).
