South Wales optometrist and part-time clinical tutor Peter Hong (pictured with Norville frame specialist Norrie Lennox) will make his 10th journey to Romania this September to dispense spectacles to the needy.
He will be joined by fellow optometrist Dave Phillips of Wymans Opticians in Pontypool and a group of students from Cardiff University to experience optics at 'the sharp end'.
The Norville Group has donated 300 pairs of complete reading spectacles for the trip in 'more unusual' powers, which Hong said will make a 'massive difference to help people straight away'.
'Three years ago we decided it would be useful for students to experience optics at the sharp end of practice and we are taking a group of three students and five staff with us this time to carry out basic examinations at a base near Transylvania,' he said.
