The UK eye care sector is to join forces with charities and healthcare professionals to launch National Eye Health Week 2010.

Taking place from June 14-18, the campaign, Vision Matters, aims to communicate the importance of eye health and the need for regular sight tests to people from every walk of life.

Practitioners are encouraged to display leaflets and posters in practice, hold competitions for local children to design posters promoting eye health and ask patients about the eye health of their family and friends.

Supporters include the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, the Eye Health Alliance, the Department of Health, the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians, the General Optical Council and Specsavers. Go to www.visionmatters.org.uk for details.
