The importance of National Eye Health Week for optical practices

National Eye Health Week 2014 takes place this year from September 22-28. David Cartwright, chair of the steering group, sets out his thoughts for why the week is important to optical practice and why everyone needs to get involved

National Eye Health Week (NEHW) gives us all the opportunity to encourage more people to have regular sight tests and get them to make healthier lifestyle choices that benefit their eye health. This is an important message for us to communicate to members of the public and is why I was delighted to take on the role as chair of the event for 2014.

NEHW is an independent, self-financing initiative, run on behalf of the whole sector by a small steering group made up of representatives from the optical bodies and national charities. This is an event that is for the whole sector and is inclusive of everyone.
