Optika raises cash for Open Door

Optika Opticians in Sutton, Surrey raised more than &\#163;850 for a young people's charity recently after organising a dinner and raffle at a local restaurant.

More than 60 people attended the event, held in aid of Sutton-based charity Open Door, which offers a confidential counselling service for those aged between 13 and 25. The practice's manager, Uday Morjaria, who spent weeks with his staff organising the dinner, said: 'It's good to do something positive for the local community. By raising this money for Open Door, we can help ensure that our young people have a place to turn to when they are in difficulty.' Special guests at the dinner included the Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Janet Lowne, Optika director Roy Midwinter and Sutton Councillor Don Brims, the charity's chairman. Mr Brims commented: 'We are very grateful to all those people at Optika who worked to organise this activity.' ' We appreciate their efforts. The money will be very helpful for continuing our work to provide a counselling service for young people in Sutton.'
