Locum charged following death of eight-year-old Vincent Barker

Optometrist Honey Rose has been charged with manslaughter at South East Suffolk Magistrates Court in Ipswich.

The locum, who was working for Boots Opticians in Ipswich at the time, is accused of killing eight-year-old Vincent Barker by gross negligence on July 13, 2012.

The 34-year-old, from East London, appeared in court yesterday for the first hearing of her case and to be formally charged. She has been suspended from General Optical Council registers since March 2013 (News 28.0313).

Rose was granted unconditional bail until the next hearing. No representations or pleas were made or entered on her behalf. A trial was scheduled for between January 25 and March 4 2015.
