A GOC fitness to practise hearing for an optometrist who was convicted of five counts of theft and one count of attempting to steal monies while employed by Boots Opticians will take place on December 3 2008.
The inquiry will be based upon the allegation submitted by the Council that Jayant Dattani's fitness to practise is impaired by the virtue of the provisions in section 13D (2) of the Optician Act 1989.
Dattani was convicted of the offences on August 9 2007 at Leicester Crown Court.
