Optometrist in frame for top award

A Specsavers optometrist director with a team of 44 has been shortlisted in the Manager of the Year category of the prestigious Retail Week Awards.

Nigel Davidson (left with head of professional recruitment Chris Howarth), of the Sutton-in-Ashfield practice, recently won the Excellence in Joint Venture Leadership at Specsavers’ annual awards, where the practice was joint Practice of the Year.

Davidson, who has worked in the optical profession for more than 20 years, was nominated by Specsavers’ director of retail communications Jill Clark for his retail skills, team leadership and ability to deliver Specsavers’ customer service values. He will undergo a panel interview with the Retail Week Award judges in February and will find out if he is a winner at the March 1 ceremony in London.
