Optometrist Mohommed Zabair given conditional order

West midlands optometrist Mohommed Zabair has been given an 18 month conditional registration order by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee

West Midlands optometrist Mohommed Zabair has been given an 18 month conditional registration order by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee after it heard that he is to face trial in September 2014 for sexual assault.

Zabair was alleged to have assaulted the female colleague in a consulting room in March 2013. A statement from the General Optical Council said the alleged assault occurred after Zabair had offered to show the colleague some stretches which he said could help her with pain in her shoulder.

The female member of staff was reported to have not initially submitted a complaint because she thought it may have harmed her job prospects while she was on a probation period, but disclosed details of the incident during an investigation into another incident in January 2014.
