The General Optical Council has placed a 12 month interim order on optometrist Roger Robinson after its fitness to practise committee heard he had failed to apply for retention, satisfy the Council he had the appropriate insurance cover or complete necessary CET.

After failing to apply for retention, Robinson was invited on two occasions to undertake he would not carry out relevant activities until his insurance position had been clarified. The committee said that it was of considerable concern that forms sent by Robinson to the GOC were signed as a dispensing optician rather than an optometrist. It said that Robinson had a responsibility to make contact with the Council to clarify his position.
