Optometrist suspended after falsifying GP’s signature

Birmingham-based optometrist Mohammed Zada has been suspended from the General Optical Council’s register for six months after a fitness to practise hearing.

His fitness to practise was found to be impaired by reason of misconduct by a committee in relation to falsifying his GP’s signature on an adult health form.

Zada self-reported in a letter to the GOC where he admitted to filling in a form to save time booking an appointment with his GP.

In March 2021, the registrant signed the document twice in the name of his GP after encountering problems trying to obtain an appointment.
