Spectacular moorland and spectacular weather welcomed the spectacular efforts of the optometrists and dispensing opticians taking part in this year Optometrists Cycling for Sight World Sight Day Challenge.

The OC4S cycling challenge has established itself as an annual event since three Bradford optometry students set up the project in 2011. The inaugural challenge was to raise money for Optometry Giving Sight by cycling between optometry schools but each year a new twist emerges.

The challenge this year was to ride the 190km opening stage of the Tour de France from Leeds to Harrogate by way of the Yorkshire moors.  This year prime mover and founder member, Fares Hatoum, came up with the idea of adding education to the day and following discussions at Optrafair the cycle and CET idea was born. Optrafair education provider, Perceptive, became involved offering CET and taking up the task of organising of the Optoms Tour de Yorkshire.
