
Optometry Ireland has reminded parents to get their children ‘eye ready’ for the classroom as families prepare to go back to school.
The association warned that poor eyesight could affect learning and lead to behavioural difficulties, and so parents should take their children to their local optical practice if they had any concerns.
Tania Constable, Optometry Ireland president, said: ‘Poor eyesight is proven to affect children’s learning but this can be easily avoided with the right treatment or glasses. A routine eye exam can be carried out at your local optometrist, who are in 350 locations nationwide.’
