Optos agrees Daytona deal down under

Equipment

Medical retinal imaging company Optos has agreed terms to supply its Daytona ultra-widefield retinal imaging devices to Luxottica's OPSM outlets in Australia and New Zealand in 2012.

It will deliver 160 Daytona instruments on a rental basis over the second half of the year, with OPSM having exclusivity over the commercial supply of Daytona in Australia and New Zealand for a two-year period.

Optos added that it would continue to sell other ultra-widefield imaging products and OCTs to ophthalmologists and optometrists in Australia and New Zealand.

The 25kg Daytona device is scaled for smaller office spaces. The instrument is designed to provide high resolution, with new autofluorescence capabilities.

The company added that it would offer the benefits of Optomap technology to more eye care professional and patients around the world.

Optos chief executive Roy Davis said that the first Daytona devices would be shipped imminently and it looked forward to securing more customers in new and existing markets.
