Optos extends deal for Daytona Down Under

Scottish instrument firm Optos has signed a deal to expand the footfall of its Daytona retinal imaging device in Australia and New Zealand but admitted to slower trading closer to home.

The company announced it was to roll out 250 Daytonas at Australian optometry chain OPSM over the next year, on top of 160 devices supplied last year (News 23.03.13), meaning all its stores would have the ultra-widefield technology.

As part of the agreement, OPSM's exclusivity over the commercial supply of Daytona devices in Australia and New Zealand, on a rental basis, was extended to 2016.

An Optos update on other trading, however, said Europe remained challenging and net debt was expected to increase in the interim following the shift to a higher rental sales mix.
