Hereford-based optometrists BBR Optometry has become the first practice in the UK to invest in the Optos California – an ultra-wide field retinal imaging device.
Providing a larger field of view of the retina (82%), the Optos machine can facilitate the early detection, management and effective treatment of disorders and diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.
Practice manager Daniel Read spoke about his decision to invest in the technology. ‘The Optos California is the first to be used by an optometry practice in the UK and demonstrates our commitment to leading the way when it comes to caring for our patients,’ he said.
‘We spent a great deal of time researching the product and know this will not only enhance our service to patients, but also ensure their eye care and medical conditions are being checked,’ he added.
