David Austen found the Optomap useful in isolating the depth of a pigmented lesion

A five-year-old patient attended for an eye examination in 2006 as his parents thought he was holding his Game Boy very close. A routine Optomap exam was performed and a large pigmented lesion was found, approximately 16x9mm in size, and which was only visible on the red (sub-retinal) scan. Figure 1 is the green scan, Figure 2 the red scan. What might the lesion be? ?
