Optos pleased with progress

Retinal imaging company Optos has recorded strong underlying revenue growth of 20 per cent for the quarter ending December 31 2011.

Like-for-like revenues, excluding its Opko Instrumen-tation (News 30.09.11) and Opto Global acquisitions, were up 11 per cent, with overall revenues up 63 per cent from $25.7m in the same quarter in 2010 to $41.9m. Revenue from device sales under financial leases grew from $0.8m to $13.2m. There were 59 new rentals and 425 renewals.

The Daytona desktop imaging device is on track for launch in the first quarter of 2012, with manufacturing scale-up under way and four clinical studies to support the launch. Optos added that $1.1m of revenues were derived from OCT products.
