Optos reveals imaging plans

Optos has delivered a business update on its global strategy and plans for the Daytona device.

The company now boasts five wide-field laser scanning devices, including the Optos 200Tx (an evolution of the P200 capable of fluorescein angiography and indocyanine guanidine imaging) and the desktop Daytona, which was launched at the American Academy of Optometry meeting. The acquisition of OCT, ultrasound and therapeutic laser units has added to this portfolio.

A team from Manchester Royal Eye Hospital talked attendees of a London meeting through case studies which they felt showed wide-field assessment should be standard procedure in specialisms such as diabetes clinics.

Optos predicted that a combined OCT and wide-field imaging unit was likely to be available in 2012.
