Optrafair organiser the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians is aiming to increase attendance at next year's show to a target of 7,500 visitors.

Following research that indicated visitors travelled for more than two hours to the show, the FMO explained at last Friday's Optrafair 2013 launch that further effort would be made to attract more visitors from the Midlands.

Barry Dibble, FMO director, explained: 'A key focus is Birmingham. It's a huge area with a massive catchment of optical outlets and we are keen to attract as many as possible. We've been poorly represented in the Midlands, which we have to change and with the NEC marketing team we are well placed to make that change.'
