Orbis and Heidelberg partner on education

Orbis and Heidelberg Engineering have partnered to provide clinical education to eye care professionals on the charity’s Cybersight telemedicine platform.

Sessions have so far covered diagnosing, monitor and managing diabetic retinopathy, and improved perioperative management of cataract surgery using optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Dr Hunter Cherwek, vice president of clinical services and technologies at Orbis, said: ‘This partnership will help us to globalise the best lectures and professors from across Europe and strengthen our reach to eye health professionals from around the world.’

The next session on July 19 will explore using OCT as an approach to diagnose glaucomatous and other optic neuropathies, and on November 15 a presentation will look at clinical technology and surgical techniques in the evolving management of corneal diseases.
