One in 10 people cannot remember the last time they went to the opticians according to new research by Orbis.
A total of 2,000 people were surveyed by Orbis – of which 578 were parents – to find out how they take care of their eyesight, what they know about how children’s vision develops and their own eye health experiences.
Research findings also highlighted that 53% of people surveyed don’t get their eyes tested every two years and 85% don’t feel like they know enough about eye health.
Consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Stoke Mandeville Hospital Larry Benjamin said: ‘The results released show that we need to do more to empower parents with the necessary facts to protect their children’s vision. In fact, just 15% of those surveyed said that they felt knowledgeable about eye health in general.’
